The EFL’s mission is to reinvent Alberta’s economy for a regenerative future by designing transformative financial solutions and policy recommendations that address structural challenges and crisis issues. We will work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including industry, government, Indigenous communities, and civil society, to develop innovative approaches that unlock economic opportunities while prioritizing social and environmental well-being.

Our vision is for Alberta to become a global leader in sustainable, inclusive, and community-driven economic development. We envision an Alberta where prosperity is shared equitably, where rural communities thrive, and where economic activities operate within planetary boundaries and align with a new moral code that prioritizes human and ecological health.

Purpose

The EFL will serve as a catalyst for change and scalable prosperity by:

• Fostering cross-sectoral collaboration and building leadership capacity to drive the transition to a sustainable economy.

• Stimulating new narratives and supporting the development of innovative solutions that address Alberta’s unique economic challenges and opportunities.

• Providing policy recommendations and advocating for reforms to the financial system to better support sustainable development, particularly in rural areas.

• Attracting investment and talent to Alberta’s emerging clean technology and innovation sectors.

• Empowering rural communities to take an active role in shaping their economic futures and benefiting from new opportunities.
